Pistons West Coast Woes and Notes

November 18th, 2009

By Brian Rexroth

imagesAfter losing to Dallas at home, the Pistons headed west on a four game road trip.  They dropped the first to the Lakers with Kobe dropping forty points for the 100th time in his career.  The Pistons fall to 5-6 on the year and are now last in the Central Division who has had some hot teams of late with both Indiana and Cleveland on four game winning streaks.

imagesWill Bynum and Rodney Stuckey have been more than holding their own in the absence of Rip Hamilton but how much better will both they and Ben Gordon be when he is back in the lineup?  His energy, poise, and leadership is missed by these young guards who have given it their all, have grown as players, and have made a huge impact this past week.  But the fact remains that these two are still second year players adapting to life in the NBA.

imagesThe man dubbed Will “The Thrill”  by Pistons broadcaster George Blaha, Bynum has scored at least 24 points in the last three contests and is not afraid to mix it up in the paint despite his listed stature at 6-0.  Check out this move here.  Stuckey, who has held in there defensively in the absence of Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince had three steals in last night’s game and has had the stamina to average 37 minutes per game, 10 more than he averaged a year ago in his rookie season.

We are really starting to miss Rip and Tayshaun’s game play and can’t wait to see them both back in the lineup.  Hamilton is listed as out until at least late November and Prince is still listed as out indefinitely.
